PRAYAS FOUNDATION FOR SOCIAL RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT

Women Empowerment

Women & Child Empowerment

Prayas Foundation places women at the center of its development approach, recognizing their critical role in building resilient families and communities. The women-centric initiatives are designed to enhance social empowerment, economic independence, decision-making capacity, and leadership skills of women from marginalized, rural, and tribal communities. The programs promote self-reliance while addressing structural barriers related to finance, awareness, and social participation.

Key Activities

Self-Help Group (SHG) Formation and Strengthening

The Foundation facilitates the formation and strengthening of women’s Self-Help Groups (SHGs) to promote collective savings, access to credit, and mutual support. SHGs are guided in regular meetings, record-keeping, internal lending, and linkage with banks and government livelihood schemes, enabling women to build financial security and social solidarity.

Financial Literacy Training

Prayas Foundation conducts financial literacy programs to enhance women’s understanding of savings, budgeting, banking services, digital payments, insurance, and credit management. These trainings empower women to make informed financial decisions, reduce dependency, and improve household financial planning.

Leadership Development and Legal Awareness

To strengthen women’s participation in community governance, the Foundation organizes leadership development sessions focusing on communication skills, confidence building, and  collective   decision-making. Legal awareness programs educate women on their rights related to health, property, domestic violence, entitlements, and access to justice, enabling them to assert their rights and seek institutional support when required.
